I am the cheesy therapist that will probably at some point state that my magic wand is broken. Why? Because it is true. Well, partially true. I never had a magic wand in the first place. Sorry to disappoint. The magic of therapy is in the hard work that you do each day; not in me.
I work in mental health. Just like physical health, this takes time and attention. It takes maintenance. Through our work together, I want to support you in figuring how to take care of your mental health. Essentially, I hope to one day work myself out of a job because you no longer feel the need to meet. Will I kick you out the door? No. This is a process that takes time and progress is not linear.
One theme I have seen in the past is thinking the therapist is the one who is magic. False. You are the one who is magic. You are the one with the answers. Does it feel that way- especially at the beginning- NO! But I assure you it is true. Is our time together helpful, yes. That is because it is a space dedicated to you being able to connect with yourself. I may do some gentle nudging to explore the hard stuff, yet it is you who accepts the gentle nudge and goes there. You are the brave one. You are the one who makes all the difference. You are the one holding the magic wand.
